What is that I do all day along..?

I took a new practice as an experiment...for a few days...I am following myself around!
How does a regular (if there is one) outiart day looks like ??

It's been interesting to try to keep this up for a few days...I tend to forget that I am suppose to record my coming and goings, and take pictures.
It has made me a little more aware of the details and beauty of my surroundings.
My friend and fellow artist Marisa from Creative Thursday inspired me to do this. Marisa did this for a week and I loved her blog post about it...her photos are beautiful!!
Here we go:

Monday March 1st

9am...on the computer while having a breakfast, e-mails, facebook, checking out my favorite artist blogs.
Dino follows me around 24/7

11 am...finally I got to the studio...I love being here!

2.30 pm Lunch and coffee break...
We can pick and choose what the world has to offer ...this here is "creating your own reality"
in action!

...garage door by my studio always catches my eye..

I was listening my friends Lisbeth Scott's newest cd: Hope is a Thing, all day long...I fell completely in love with it!!

5.30 I am done for today...It was one of those amazing painting days when I am just blissfully enjoying the process and being in the moment! The painting is starting to take it shape but still way to go.

on the way home...

Bed time...Saga, the senior citizen in the house will hit the sack first.

Lynda and I had field trip on Venice beach and on Abbot Kinney
I did go into the ocean once...only once!
Patio was redone and here we celebrate Craig's birthday
I love butter and butter loves me
Cleaned the studio
Flo's birthday party at my place.
Babysitting my favorite little bubbleheads (I call all the children and people I love bubbleheads...so it's a good thing) Cosmo and Cypress
I love this group of women...we started our meetings this summer to support each other in our work, in our essence and how to bring it to the world.

Suddenly I am into gardening (never cared about it before). Now I can't stop buying plants!
Before I couldn't keep them alive...now they are actually blossoming and growing!

So with this new gardening "thing" I had to make some outiart pots and I have to say they came out so PRETTY!

So I made some for the rest of the world too.

I hand painted this surfboard for a local Venice surfer who makes his own boards.
He gave me total creative freedom to do "my thing" and I had a great time with this one!
This is before the fiber class coating. Pics with the shiny new coating to come.
I discovered that surfboards are great big canvases....I definitely want to do more of them!

For years my morning ritual is to have my coffee and read the paper in the coffee shop near my house. Now I got company...my good friend Flo has moved into the neighborhood and we meet for morning coffee when ever we can. Now I don't have time to read the paper so much...we just talk, talk, talk and laugh a lot!
After that I am ready to go to studio and paint!

I love when that happens! I followed what the brush wanted to do and where it wanted to go. There is a exchange of energy happening between me and the painting..it
gives back to me, surprises me...I watch it take a shape and come alive!

Barcelona!

I Met my sister and her family in Barcelona for ten days.
Discovered Gaudi's architecture.
Saw works of Picasso and Joan Miro.

There would be so much good stuff to say about Barcelona, seeing my family, art, all the expressos, ice cream, wine...that when I think about it I get overwhelmed and don't want to post anything...so here just least few images...instead of nothing!
I don't want to spend my time writing...
this days I want to paint more than anything and it's amazing to me!
This new passion to paint that I discovered last month in my painting workshop
in Esalen (previous post) is still here and I am blow away by it!
Just loving it!
Here one I just did when I got back in town.
It's called: "I am an enchanted forest".

Just got back from the five day painting workshop at Esalen.
It was called "awakening the creative".
And yes, the creative was awakened again in me!
I had a passionate love affair with painting!
Just when I had been questioning my whole relationship!
Now I can't wait to get back to my studio tomorrow and paint again!
I was lucky to have my painter friends Doug and Amadea there with me...we had a blast!
I will write some more about it later...I think....if I have time...

ceramic mini vases

I just finished an custom order for my fellow Ten Woman artist, Kara Taub, who does wonderful fiber arts. Kara is getting married soon and I made her colorful ceramic mini vases that she gave as gifts in her wedding shower.
In the picture you can see them all glazed (the pink stuff) going in for a firing. I love the moment of opening the kiln lid after last firing and seeing how the colors came out...so satisfying!

time to ROAR

Here we are... my friends Elizabeth, Christina and me at Christina's b-day party
where the invitation was to dress up little differently.
She didn't have to ask us twice! I love to do that!
I have a costume box at home that is getting bigger and bigger...Halloween
is not only once a year anymore...and I meet with my theatre group once a week...
we dress up all the time.
Dressing up (or "down") just gets a different side of you to come out. It breaks up the everyday routine immediately ...and since I am on that subject here is another opportunity to do that:

Christina's workshop ROAR is starting again this Thursday April 17th.
I did the last round of it and had a roaring good time so I am doing it again!
I am looking forward to 7 weeks of outrageous play with inevitable surprising insights to life and ourselves.
There are still a few spaces open in the ROAR so come and play with us!

I am doing a new series of ceramic plates...characters who do anything, say anything, be politically incorrect
or just be really, really sweet. I have always been interested in the opposites. There is a side of us that
knows to behave "good" and I think we are fooling ourselves if we deny the other end of the spectrum...
behaving "badly"!

Nothing new, the yin/yang, the light and the dark existing simultaneously.
So here it comes; "it's never too late to start smoking"!
